Technology

In order to remain one of the fastest growing practices in Canada we must be on the cutting-edge of technology. A high-end expensive luxurious practice has never been the objective. Instead, the goal has been to create a practice that will provide the best overall experience for the patient, at the same fees as other practices in London.

Massage Dental Chair

Pelton.jpg Pelton2.jpg We wanted the best dental chair for the patient. A black-leather soft dental chair with ergonometric movements and positions was the clear choice. The world's first fully-integrated dental massaging system helps our patients to relax and to feel great.

Computerized Cavity Detector

Our focus on prevention inspired us to introduce the industry-leading digital carries detector software. It is clinically proven to help dentist spot carries earlier and with greater accuracy, especially in areas that are very hard to see like in between teeth. This way we can help you identify the areas that could be in danger and help you with your brushing and flossing techniques so that these cavities never develop.

Digital Scanner (no more messy impressions)

The State-of-the art science digital scanner uses laser and optical scanning to digitally capture the surface and contours of the tooth and gums. This scanner captures 100,000 points of laser light and has perfect focus of images of more than 300 focal depths of the tooth structure meaning that the impressions are virtually perfect. This eliminates the need for traditional impressions, is ideal for patients with gag reflex and since you see the image on the screen instantaneously it is easier for you to visualise the treatment instantaneously.  See video

Computerized Injections - Single Tooth Anaesthetic

no needles
Video - As featured on CBS News

Although no dentist can guarantee painless dentistry there are steps that dentists can take to aliviate the pain.  In an effort to provide the most enjoyable patient experience and stay on top of advances in dentistry Riverpark has acquired the Single Tooth Anesthesia (STA) system.  This is still a relatively new product on the market.

What this system does is allow for "freezing" without the needle to the gum.  Instead, the anaesthetic is placed in the space between the gum and the tooth.  Therefore the patient gets the freezing without the needle.

Traditional freezing leaves a large part of the jaw numb.  The other advantage of this system is that it freezes just the tooth that needs to be frozen.  Because the anaesthetic is controlled by a computer, the dentist can effectively administer only as much anaesthetic as is needed.

Reduce Pain on Injection - Anaesthetic warmer

no needles

Another way to enhance our patients' experience is by addressing a common fear of many patients - the Injection. What many don't realize is that the actual pain does not come from the pinch itself but rather from the anaesthetic that is travelling inside the gum. What the Anaesthetic warmer does is warm up the injected liquid to the temperature similar to your body. We cannot say that this makes the injection painless, but we do have many patients who after our injections are still squeezing their fists. When we tell them that it's finished they are stunned!

Nitrous Oxide- Laughing Gas

Nitrous.jpg

Laughing gas is an odorless and colorless gas, officially known as nitrous oxide or N2O, probably won't make you giggle while you're in your dentist's chair. However, for those of you who get uptight or squeamish before or during dental treatment, this commonly used sedative and anti-anxiety agent can help promote a sense of relaxation, calm and general well-being.

Laughing gas is known for having very few side effects, and for this reason, can be used on patients of all ages. This gas is used both alone and in union with agents such as pain relievers and local anesthetics. Nitrous oxide laughing gas by itself is a form of what is often referred to as 'conscious sedation.' Although it will leave patients somewhat tired, those who opt for conscious sedation as their sole form of treatment will remain awake and responsive during the entire dental procedure. Nitrous oxide laughing gas is a smart and widely used option for many procedures such as crowns, root canals or wisdom teeth removal. In fact, the sedative effects of laughing gas wear off so quickly after discontinuation that you can drive home directly following its use. And, unlike most other forms of sedation dentistry, you can eat within 12 hours of the procedure.

Low-Radiation Digital X-rays

Panoramic low-radiation x-rays produce significantly less radiation than traditional x-rays. Because the x-rays are digital the images are instantaneous and can be emailed easily.

Laser Dentistry

Laser dentistry is one of dentistry’s latest advances. Dental lasers have been shown to be safe effective in treatment of both children and adults. Although laser dentistry is most notably associated with cosmetic treatments, it does play an important role in a growing number of common dental procedures.

Benefits of Laser Dentistry

Lasers reduce the damage of the surrounding tissue meaning less discomfort and pain after treatment.

  • Faster healing and tissue regeneration
  • Helps to eliminate cold and canker sores
  • Removal of harmful bacteria that causes gum disease
  • Reduced bleeding during and after treatment
  • Reduced need for anesthesia
  • Reduced need for stitches and sutures
  • Reduced risk of bacterial infections after procedures
  •
